History
This Magnificent water playground was created in 1944 with the completion of the Denison Dam at a cost of seventy eight million dollars. The Dam was constructed for the purpose of power generation and flood control. Today in excess of seven million visitors annually enjoy the many recreational facilities provided by this wonderful natural resource.
In 1941 the U. S. Congress authorized the National Park Service to make a survey. For those interested in the inclusive scope and detail of the survey, the full report, of teh Denison Dam and Reservoir project, is available at Washington D. C.
